Leak Saver Direct Inject Ultimate — 3-in-1 Refrigerant Leak Sealant, Moisture Remover & UV Dye
Leak Saver Direct Inject Ultimate is the most complete refrigerant system treatment available in a single injection — combining the most trusted HVAC leak sealant on the market with a moisture remover and UV leak detection dye. One unit handles three of the most common service needs: sealing small refrigerant leaks, removing system moisture, and locating large leaks with UV light. Over 3 million units of this sealant formula sold since 2015. Made in the USA by EPA-certified HVAC technicians.
What's Inside — 3-in-1 Formula
- Leak Sealant — Permanently seals small refrigerant leaks. Works like blood sealing a cut: circulates through the system and reacts with air and moisture at the leak site to form a permanent seal. Any unreacted sealant stays circulating to seal future leaks.
- Moisture Remover — Removes system moisture that causes acid formation, compressor damage, and reduced efficiency. Previously you needed a separate product (Leak Saver Dry) for this — the Ultimate has it built in.
- UV Dye — If the leak is too large for the sealant to seal (charge lost in under 7 days), the UV dye will glow brightly at the leak site under a UV lamp, pinpointing the exact location for repair.
What Systems Is It Compatible With?
- Central AC and heat pumps — Split systems and packaged units up to 5 tons (60,000 BTU)
- Mini splits and ductless systems — All brands (may require 5/16" to 1/4" adapter)
- Geothermal heat pumps
- Automotive AC — R134a and R1234yf (requires standard 134a to 1/4" charging adapter for automotive ports)
- Residential refrigerators and freezers
- Commercial refrigeration — Walk-in coolers, display cases, microchannel coils, and more
Compatible Refrigerants
Works with all refrigerants and oils — except ammonia. Including:
- R410A, R22 and R22 replacements, R134a, R1234yf, R404A, R507, R32, R600a, R454B, R290, and more
- Compatible with POE, PAG, and mineral oil lubricants
Safe for All System Components
- TXVs, TEVs, and electronic expansion valves
- Capillary tubes
- Schrader valves
- Manifold gauges and hoses
- All compressor types
- Microchannel coils
Ultimate 3-in-1 vs. Standard Direct Inject — What's the Difference?
- Ultimate 3-in-1 (this product) — Sealant + moisture remover + UV dye. The complete treatment. Best choice for most service calls — handles moisture and provides UV leak detection capability in addition to sealing.
- Standard Direct Inject — Sealant only. Use when you specifically need sealant without dye, or when adding dye to a system that already has dye is undesirable.
For the vast majority of service calls, the Ultimate is the right choice. The moisture remover addresses one of the most common causes of system damage, and the UV dye gives you a fallback if the leak turns out to be too large to seal.
When to Use Leak Saver Ultimate
- Slow charge loss — System losing refrigerant over weeks or months with no obvious source
- Evaporator coil leaks — Small pinhole leaks in inaccessible or expensive-to-replace coils
- Moisture suspected — System with signs of moisture contamination (acid, high superheat, compressor running hot)
- Unknown leak size — When you're not sure if the leak is sealable — the UV dye ensures you can find it either way
- Preventive maintenance — Inject during a recharge to seal existing micro-leaks and protect against future ones
When Leak Saver Will NOT Work
Leak sealant works on small leaks where the system holds its charge for at least 7 days. If the entire refrigerant charge is lost in under 7 days, the leak is too large to seal. In that case, the UV dye in the Ultimate formula will light up at the leak point under a UV lamp, helping you locate it for brazing or component replacement.
How to Inject
- Connect your manifold gauge set to the system's low-side service port
- Connect the Leak Saver Ultimate vial to the center hose of the manifold
- Open the manifold valve to inject into the system
- Run the system for 15–20 minutes to circulate throughout the circuit
- Recharge to proper operating pressure
For automotive systems, a standard R134a to 1/4" SAE adapter is required. For mini splits, a 5/16" to 1/4" adapter may be needed. One unit treats systems up to 5 tons — use two units for systems 5–10 tons.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Ultimate different from the standard Direct Inject?
The Ultimate adds a moisture remover and UV dye to the proven leak sealant formula. The moisture remover eliminates the need for a separate Leak Saver Dry treatment. The UV dye means that if the leak is too large to seal, you can still locate it with a UV lamp rather than leaving the job unresolved.
Is one unit enough?
One unit treats systems up to 5 tons (60,000 BTU). For systems between 5 and 10 tons, use two units.
Is it safe for my TXV and expansion valves?
Yes. Leak Saver Ultimate is specifically formulated to be safe for all expansion valve types — TXVs, TEVs, electronic expansion valves, and capillary tubes.
How long does the seal last?
The seal is permanent. The sealant reacts chemically at the leak site to form a durable bond. Unreacted sealant continues circulating to seal future leaks.
Can I use this on an R454B system?
Yes. Compatible with all refrigerants except ammonia, including R454B, R32, and all other modern refrigerants.
Do I need a UV lamp to use this product?
The UV dye component requires a UV lamp to be visible. If you don't have one, the sealant and moisture remover functions work regardless. A UV lamp is only needed if you need to locate a leak that was too large to seal.
What if my system has a lot of moisture?
The Ultimate includes a moisture remover, which handles typical moisture levels. For systems with severe moisture contamination, a dedicated Leak Saver Dry treatment first may be advisable before injecting the Ultimate.
